Ono Kai is a Hawaiian style mobile kitchen based in Tallahassee, FL. Featuring cuisine inspired by the islands, Ono Kai's menu encompasses flavors and dishes from the diverse cultural influences found in Hawaii.
Tallahassee native, chef/owner Tyler DeBruyne was trained in classic french technique at the New England Culinary Institute in Burlington, Vermont. After graduating he relocated to the island of Oahu in Hawaii. On Oahu he worked at the famed Roy's Restaurant where he learned and cooked Hawaiian fusion first hand.
After Leaving the Islands Tyler moved to Asheville, North Carolina where he worked under James Beard Nominated Chef Katie Button at Curate Bar de Tapas as Sous Chef. There, he learned the art of traditional Spanish tapas and the beauty of simple well prepared food using top quality ingredients.
Ono Kai will feature fresh seafood and a unique blend of Hawaiian style plates. As is tradition in Hawaii, all plates will be served with steamed rice and macaroni salad. From kalua pig to garlic shrimp, Ono Kai is sure to add a little aloha to your day.
